Apple is all set to open its new retail store in Singapore which is housed in a floating sphere. The COVID-19 pandemic may have slowed down the iPhone makers’ growth, but it’s unstoppable with its ambition to indulge in its new pricey-looking retail store. This retail store is the third in Singapore on the city-state’s waterfront, officially known as the Apple Marina Bay Sands.

The store has a dedicated webpage, which describes it as a “space for you to explore, connect, and create something new.” The webpage also has a teaser video with a couple of wallpapers. The store is not yet open for the public, hence we don’t know how it looks from inside.

During the day, the orb-shaped store looks like a futuristic spacecraft, but at night, it comes alive with the iconic skyline of Singapore in the background. 9to5Mac has referred to it as ‘the lantern on the bay’ with picturesque marketing images. The glass panels reflect the towering skylines and the motion of the rippling water during the day. At night, it glows with a gentle warmth infusing the design of traditional lanterns used in Singapore’s Mid-Autumn festival. It also has an elevated boardwalk and an underwater passage that connects the pavilion to the shore and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

After its first store in 2017 at the Knightsbridge along Orchard Road, and the second one that opened in 2019 at Jewel Changi Airport, this is the third retail outlet for Apple in Singapore, and 512th worldwide.
